چکیده
The combination of charge separation induced by the formation of a single photorefractive screening soliton and an applied external bias field in a paraelectric is shown to lead to a family of useful electro-optic guiding patterns and properties.

Conditions for Soliton-Like Wave Propagation in Pockels and Photorefractive Media
We study the conditions for soliton-like wave propagation in the Photorefractive (PR) and electro-optic (i.e., Pockels) material, by using Nonlinear Schrodinger (NLS) equation. The complete NLS equation is solved analytically and numerically by transforming it into the phase space. Our results clearly show the existence of both the dark and bright solitary solutions for the PR medium. Interesti...
متن کاملSimulation and Design of an Organic Quantum Film Electrooptic Switch
In this paper the simulation and design of a quantum-film electro-optic switch is considered. This photonic device, is made from a new organic dipolar material called MNA or 2-methyl-4 nitroaniline, which possesses a high merit in comparison with it's inorganic counterparts (e.g. LiNbO3, GaAs, InSb, Quartz, etc). Montecarlo method is used to simulate the photon-it-electron interaction in this m...
متن کاملPyro-electro-optic phase gratings.
A new physical mechanism is proposed for generating transient phase gratings in transparent pyroelectric materials. The mechanism combines the pyroelectric and electro-optic effects to convert spatial intensity variations into transient phase gratings. The grating diffraction efficiency increases with a figure of merit that is proportional to the pyroelectric, electro-optic, and absorption coef...
متن کاملPhotorefractive Spatial Solitons
Photorefractive crystals are electro-optic dielectrics that host a small amount of photosensitive impurities. Light propagation leads to the generation of outof-equilibrium mobile charge, that, in order to reach a stable electro-static configuration, redistributes throughout the crystal. The ensuing space-charge field, modifying electro-optically the crystal index of refraction, changes the tra...
متن کاملSoliton formation and collapse in tunable waveguide arrays by electro-optic effect.
Light propagation in periodically poled lithium niobate (PPLN) waveguide arrays is numerically investigated. By employing the concept of a linear focusing effect, we propose a brand new method to control discrete diffraction and spatial solitons in PPLN waveguide arrays by electrical field. Simulated results are presented, and the principle is discussed to demonstrate the feasibility of the met...
